COVID-19: CampusKey update 24/03/2020

corona virus covid-19 updates

Following President Ramaphosa’s presidential announcement last night stating “all South Africans will have to stay home with few exemptions”, we want to confirm that CampusKey provides a home away from home, therefore we are staying open for all our students, and our students will be able to ‘lockdown’ in their room.

CampusKey will however be implementing additional measures in line with the announcement last night to adhere to legal obligations of this lockdown. These measures will be in effect during the lockdown period from Thursday 26th of March midnight to 16 April 2020.

MEASURES TO ADHERE TO LEGAL OBLIGATIONS OF THIS LOCKDOWN:

  1. The reception and office will be closed. You will not be able to visit reception in that time therefore we have made the following services free of charge for this #CKlockdown period:
  • Uncapped WiFi for everyone in CampusKey; and
  • Free laundry for everyone in CampusKey.

Furthermore;

  1. The bedroom cleaning service option will be stopped;
  2. Only the essential service providers will be available to assist CampusKey during this time.
  3. Only essential maintenance services;
  4. No visitors;
  5. No sleepovers;
  6. No group gatherings;
  7. You are obligated by government to stay isolated in your bedroom except to buy food etc as per the government regulations;
  8. Additional emergency Community Guidelines come into effect. See the list below.

ADDITIONAL EMERGENCY COMMUNITY GUIDELINES FOR EACH STUDENT TO DEAL WITH CONTAINMENT OF COVID-19

We are in an official National State of Disaster. It is necessary to amend our Community Guidelines to reflect such. The safety and well-being of our students and teams are paramount, therefore we have implemented additional Community Guidelines to deal with the containment of COVID-19.

Should a student not adhere to these additional emergency guidelines, the clause 10 and 13 on transgression of our Community Guidelines in the SRA 2020 will apply.

These are the additional Community Guidelines in place, as also articulated by the World Health Organization (WHO), and responding to the State of National Disaster:

The WHO stresses that:

  • social distancing measures can help to reduce transmission and enable health systems to cope; and
  • handwashing and coughing into your elbow can reduce the risk to yourself and to others.
  1. PRACTICE A SANITIZATION ROUTINE
    1. All students must follow the WHO advice on how to beat the Coronavirus:
      1. Wash your hands with soap or hand sanitize at least 3 times per day;
      2. Avoid close contact with anyone with flu-like symptoms;
      3. Cover your mouth when coughing or cough into your bent elbow;

    3. Clean surface areas with a good household cleaner;
    4. The CK Wave is the only greeting method allowed;
    5. Follow a no touch policy, do no touch surfaces if you can avoid it. IF you cannot avoid it, use a hand sanitizer before and after you touched it.
