Do I need to reapply every year, or can I rebook?

Already living at CampusKey? You don’t need to start from scratch. Rebook through your Student Portal during the rebooking period to secure your spot for the next year. New to CampusKey? You’ll need to submit a new online application.

Can I move rooms or transfer to another campus during the year?

Room and campus transfers may be considered, depending on availability and approval. Speak to your on-site team to discuss your options and any costs that may apply.

How does the waiting list work if my room type is fully booked?

Found the room you want, but it’s fully booked? Join the waiting list and we’ll contact you if a space becomes available.

Can I apply for the second semester or mid-year?

Yes, second-semester rooms are available at selected CampusKey locations, depending on availability. Apply online and look out for rooms marked Second Semester.

Can international students apply?

Yes! International students can apply online just like local students. Our team will let you know which supporting documents, such as proof of registration or a valid study visa, are required.

Do I have to be a registered student to stay at CampusKey?

CampusKey is built for students, but our spaces aren't only for them. Short Stay is open to travelling guests, and CK Club is for students who live off-site.

How old do I have to be to stay at CampusKey?

You must be at least 18 to stay at CampusKey. Applicants under 18 may require consent and supporting documents from a parent or legal guardian.

Which universities and cities is CampusKey close to?

CampusKey has student accommodation in six university cities: Cape Town near UCT, Pretoria near the University of Pretoria and convenient for TUT, Bloemfontein near UFS, Stellenbosch near Stellenbosch University, Potchefstroom near NWU and Gqeberha near NMU. What happens when I decide to cancel my application?

Plans change, we get it. You can cancel your application at any time. Have a look at our current Cancellation Policy on the website to see which terms apply to your booking.

Can my parents or family come with me to Check-in?

of course! Your family is welcome to help you move in and get settled. Check your pre-arrival communication for any check-in-day parking or access information.

What time can I arrive on Check-in day?

You’ll book your arrival time through your Student Portal before check-in. Arrive during your confirmed time slot so our team is ready to welcome you and help you settle in.

What should I bring on Check-in day?

Book your check-in and bring your ID, bedding, kitchen basics and personal items. Your room is already fully furnished, so leave the furniture shopping off the list and focus on making the space yours.

What is included in my room?

Your room comes fully furnished, so you can move in and make it yours. Every room includes a bed and mattress, desk, cupboard space and a panel heater. Some room types also include extras such as an LED TV or weekly room cleaning. Inclusions vary between campuses and room types, so visit your preferred campus page and check the Rooms and Prices section for the full breakdown.

How do I access my room?

During check-in, we’ll scan your fingerprint and your face to activate your secure biometric access. Your fingerprint gives you access to your CampusKey building, pedestrian gates and bedroom. No keys to lose. No access card hiding at the bottom of your bag.

How do I book my Check-in appointment and why is it important?

We’ll email you when it’s time to book your check-in appointment through your Student Portal. Booking ahead helps our team prepare for your arrival, get you settled faster and make your first day at CampusKey as smooth as possible.

When can I Check-in?

Your official check-in date will be available on our socials and in your Student Portal. Check-in usually takes place during January. Keep an eye on your inbox and portal so you don’t miss the details.

Can I upgrade, downgrade or cancel my CK Club membership?

Yes! You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel your CK Club membership at any time. Simply contact your CK Club team and they’ll help you make the change.

Is CK Club available at all CampusKey locations?

Yes, CK Club is availbale at all CamusKey locations. Essential gives you access to one selected CK location, while Premium and Deluxe give you access to all CK Club locations.

What's the difference between a CK Club member and a CK resident?

A CK Club member enjoys CampusKey’s shared spaces, including gyms, study areas and social lounges, but lives somewhere else. A CampusKey resident gets access to all those shared spaces, plus their own fully furnished private bedroom at a CampusKey residence.

What's the difference between the CK Club memberships?

Essential: Access to one selected CK location, including the gym, high-speed WiFi, study and social spaces, co-working areas, weekly CKonnections events and early-bird access to CampusKey applications. Premium: Everything included in Essential, plus access to all CK locations and laundry facilities. Deluxe: Everything included in Premium, plus parking. Parking: A dedicated yearly parking bay only.

What is CK Club?

CK Club gives you access to the CampusKey lifestyle without living at CampusKey. Depending on your membership, you can enjoy our fully equipped gyms, high-speed WiFi, co-working spaces, study areas, social lounges, CKonnections events and more. All the CampusKey perks, minus the move-in.

What happens after I apply?

Once you apply, you’ll receive a Welcome to the Club email with your next steps and information on joining the CK Club WhatsApp group. You’ll then visit your closest CampusKey location to complete your onboarding and activate your membership. After that, you’re officially in.

What’s the difference between the CK Club memberships?

How do I sign up for CK Club?

Apply online, choose the membership package that works for you and complete your onboarding at your closest CampusKey location. Simple. Welcome to the club.

Can I use CK Club benefits at any CampusKey location?

It depends on your membership. Essential gives you access to one selected CampusKey location. Premium and Deluxe give you access to all CK locations, so you can gym, study or hang out wherever you go.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking isn’t allowed in CampusKey communal spaces. All students and guests must follow the Student Community Guidelines and South African smoking laws. There are designated smoking areas at each location.

How safe is CampusKey and what security is in place?

Your safety is always a priority. CampusKey offers secure biometric access, 24/7 monitored CCTV, an on-site team and a Call-us-anytime number for urgent assistance, so you can focus on student life while we focus on keeping your space secure.

Is there an on-site cafe or shop (CK Mini)?

Selected CampusKey locations have a CK Mini, where you can grab coffee, snacks and everyday essentials without leaving campus. Check your location page to see whether your CampusKey has one.

Can I bring my own appliances like a kettle, microwave or mini-fridge?

Personal appliances must meet CampusKey’s safety standards. Check the Student Community Guidelines before bringing additional or high-power appliances into your room.

Are the study spaces open 24 hours?

Yes! CampusKey study spaces are open 24/7. Early-morning planner or late-night assignment finisher, there’s always a space ready for you.

Is there back-up power during loadshedding?

Yes, CampusKey has solar power and back-up batteries to keep key services running during load-shedding. What stays powered may differ between campuses, so check your location page or ask the on-site team for the exact details. But rest-assured the Wifi never dips.

How fast is the WiFi and is it included?

Fast, secure and uncapped WiFi is included at every CampusKey residence and works across your devices. Need more speed for gaming, streaming or downloading? WiFi upgrades of up to 50 Mbps are available.

Is parking available at CampusKey?

Yes. Parking is available at our campuses on a first-come, first-served basis. Depending on the building, you may find basement, undercover or open parking bays. You can add parking when you apply, but spaces are limited, so booking early is always a good move. Platinum rooms include an allocated parking bay.

Does CampusKey provide me with meals?

Meals aren’t included, but every private or shared kitchen gives you the space to cook for yourself. Meal-prep master, instant-noodle enthusiast or group-dinner regular, the kitchen is ready for you.

Can I have overnight guests?

You’re welcome to invite friends over and you’ll be responsible for them while they visit. Overnight guests aren’t allowed, and no guest may stay in your room when you aren’t there.

Is there a mentor or buddy programme?

Yes! Our mentor programme gives students the chance to welcome new residents, build leadership skills and help create the CampusKey community. Keep an eye on your campus WhatsApp group for information on how to apply.

What wellness or mental-health support is available?

Your wellbeing matters. CampusKey hosts mental-health and wellness workshops, community programmes and extra support initiatives during high-pressure periods such as exams. You can also reach out to your on-site team when you need guidance on where to find additional support.

Are pets allowed?

Pets aren’t permitted in CampusKey residences.

Why are there half-year room inspections and is it compulsory?

We use the June and July break to inspect every bedroom and repair anything that needs attention. It helps us keep your room in great condition and gives us a chance to sort out the small things before they become bigger problems. Room inspections are compulsory and form part of our Terms and Conditions.

May I invite friends over?

Of course. Your friends are welcome to visit. You’ll be responsible for your guests while they’re at CampusKey, and they’ll need to follow the CampusKey Student Community Guidelines. Overnight guests aren’t allowed, and no guest may stay in your room when you aren’t there.

Are there rules regarding noise?

Yes. Our no-noise hours are between 22:00 and 08:00, giving everyone the space to sleep, study and recharge. Quiet hours may be extended during examination periods. The full details are included in our Student Community Guidelines.

Are there house rules?

Yes. We call them the CampusKey Student Community Guidelines. They’re there to keep our community safe, respectful, supportive and enjoyable for everyone. You can download the latest version from our website. Good vibes work best when everyone plays their part.

Are utilities and WiFi included, or are there extra costs?

Yes! Water, electricity and uncapped WiFi are included in your CampusKey fees, so there are no surprise monthly utility bills. Optional extras may include secure parking, WiFi speed upgrades, laundry tokens and additional room cleaning.

What is the SRA Fee and what does it cover?

The SRA Fee or admin fee is the fee linked to your signed Service and Residence Agreement. It forms part of the payment required to secure your room before moving in.

Is rent paid monthly or annually, and how many instalments?

Your CampusKey fees are split into 11 or 12 instalments, depending on your campus and contract. The full payment structure is shown in the Rooms and Prices section for your selected location.

Is the deposit refundable and when do I get it back?

Your deposit is handled according to the terms of your Service and Residence Agreement and Cancellation Policy. Any refund will depend on factors such as outstanding fees, the condition of your room and the required notice period.

Can my bursary or study loan pay for my accommodation?

Bursary and study-loan payments may be accepted, subject to the required approval and supporting documents. Contact our team before applying so we can guide you through the process.

How much does it cost to stay at CampusKey?

Prices differ by city, building and room type. Choose your preferred city on our Locations page and scroll to Rooms and Prices to explore the latest Independent, Explorer and Socializer options.

What other services can I apply for together with applying for my room?

You can add extras such as secure parking and a WiFi speed upgrade while completing your online application. Choose what works for you and build your best CampusKey setup.

What fees are payable before I occupy my room?

Before move-in day, your admin fee, first installment payment and your Deposit must be paid. Once that’s sorted, you’re one step closer to making CampusKey home.

What fees are payable with my application?

When you submit your online application, you’ll need to pay a non-refundable Administration Fee and a Deposit. The Administration Fee differs between campuses, so visit your preferred campus page to see the exact amount.
